More About Us
History
SPJST Senior Living is a non-profit organization whose goal is to provide outstanding health care and customer service to our residents. This belief surrounds all that we do, from daily interactions with our residents to the respectful and loving relationships we have with residents’ families and our employees. SPJST has been providing communities and services to seniors in Texas since 1957 when we opened our first community in Taylor, Texas. Today, SPJST operates a nursing, rehab and assisted living community in Taylor, Texas and nursing and rehab communities in Needville and El Campo, Texas. In 2023, SPJST added the Lake Travis assisted living community (formerly known as Grace House) to our communities of loving care.

As I was moving Mom into SPJST Assisted Living of Lake Travis, I immediately noticed the family friendly atmosphere. I had already had Mom in 2 other senior living facilities. I just knew that this was going to be the right place for Mom. The last year of her life was blessed with caring and loving staff. They became her new friends and family and mine as well. I never worried when I left town as I knew she was in good hands. I am thankful each and every day for the wonderful family at SPJST Assisted Living at Lake Travis.

Since 2017 I have had my Dad in 4 facilities from Leander to Cedar Park then Lakeway. I moved him into SPJST Senior Living in October 2023 after being told by the facility in Lakeway that he needed to be placed in memory care for a dollar figure that was way beyond his budget.
Ten months later and I can honestly say I love this place! I had a friend whose Mother lived there in the 90’s (when it was previously Grace House) and she couldn’t say enough great things about it. I was told it had been purchased by a small group out of Taylor, Texas so I quickly looked at their reviews which were all very good. During my first visit when I met the Director and Assistant Director, I noticed their genuine Christian attitude and the way they treated the residents that was so much more loving and caring than the previous facility. There is no big corporate feeling here — it’s quaint and homey and the care is excellent.
The main plus to SPJST is that it is small and will never be beyond 32 residents. Because of its size, the residents truly do receive a lot more attention and response times to the call buttons are usually within a few minutes. The staff truly cares and it is demonstrated by every single staff member, from the chef to the caregivers and even by the maid who cleans. If you are looking for personalized care, please bring your loved one to SPJST. Not only will your loved one be lovingly cared for, you will sleep better knowing they truly do care.

The staff at SPJST is completely top notch! Four staff, including management, were there before my mother arrived 12 years ago and are still there today. Two more excellent staff have been giving overnight and weekend support for nearly 10 years.
My mother was at this lovely facility for more than 10 years. She was loved and treated as family without any exceptions. It felt like home and my whole family was treated well by all.
The food here is always top level — truly delicious! Kitchen staff is concerned about meeting all diet needs and restrictions. The food is just really good!
The setting is lovely, tucked back under the oaks with lots of birds and squirrels. A comfortable place to visit.
Mostly it is the kindness and true caring from this staff. I have watched them put residents’ needs first time and time again. So much love and respect! Staff was always caring and always kind, with no exceptions. That is what really makes this facility shine.

My Mom, Rose Stewart was at this community for almost 6 years. Her room was light, cheery, and so was her personality (most of the time ). We weren’t looking for the beautiful furnishings, eating areas or all the fancy amenities. We wanted a place where she could receive the attention she needed, the care and the hugs!
On any given day, you could see her dancing to the live music or the TV that was playing some of her favorite music. As her condition worsened over the years,
one of the most comforting things for our family was that we knew that Mom was loved by many of the staff there. She was cared for in a way that money cannot buy it was due to an attentive staff! No place is ever perfect, but we knew she received the best of care here. We knew, because Mom was happy during her time there. I can still see her smiling face and hear her infectious laugh in the place she called home!
